Phil Coturri, a lifelong farmer and Sonoma Valley's leading organic viticulturalist, manages more than 600 acres of vines certified with California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), a number of which are also certified Biodynamic. Keenly aware of the impact his actions have on the environment and the community, Phil farms all of the grapes under his care without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, or fungicides.
Phil works closely with Stone Edge Farm to bolster native habitats, encourage biodiversity, and increase the vibrancy and health of the soil and vines at both the Stone Edge and Mount Pisgah vineyards. Phil has collaborated with Jeff in perfecting the art of grape growing since 1996, and together with Mac McQuown, he shares the goal to “give back to the soil more than we take from it.”
“As grape growers we have to be fully aware of our impact on our neighbors. We sit at the helm of Sonoma Valley's economic and social force. Our decisions and our actions affect the very fabric of our community.”
