Stone Edge Farms
Mac McQuown
Proprietor

A wine collector since 1965, Mac McQuown's serious enthusiasm for fine wine was inspired by the promise of California vineyards in the early 1970's. He was instrumental in economically nurturing Dick Graff's vision of Chalone Vineyard into a world-renown winery. At Carmenet Vineyard in 1980, Mac began an enduring friendship with winemaker Jeff Baker. In 1995, Mac and Leslie McQuown acquired property in western Sonoma Valley that reinspired Mac and Jeff to again combine their expertise to create Stone Edge Farm.

While countless artisans have contributed to the beauty of Stone Edge Farm, Mac credits his wife Leslie for its overarching esthetic vision—her eye for design informed the property's architecture and sculptural landscape, with its outdoor rooms, inviting courtyards, and art. The success of Stone Edge Farm stems from Mac's lifelong willingness to experiment and to bring together artisans and innovators in all business endeavors, knowing that the sum of minds working toward a shared vision, yields the most interesting and successful results.

“Growing a great wine requires uncompromising commitment to quality, and a willingness to experiment and adapt to emerging insights.” —Mac McQuown
