Stone Edge Farms
Jeff Baker
Winemaker

Jeffrey Baker grew up on his family's citrus ranch in Ventura County. He graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Psychology, but it was the frequent weekend trips to Napa Valley for wine tastings that led to his fascination with grape growing and the time honored traditions of turning fresh berries into a complex, beautiful, and long lasting beverage.

Jeff earned a Masters degree in Enology from UC Davis, and became a winemaker at the venerable Mayacamas Winery, located in the mountains between Napa and Sonoma. This led to a collaboration with a group of partners, including Mac McQuown. Together they created the Carmenet Winery (now Moon Mountain Vineyards) on the southwest side of the Mayacamas Mountains. In the late 1990's both he and Mac planted small vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon on their home properties. In 2004 they established Stone Edge Farm, a winery dedicated to producing the finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blends from these two vineyards.

“For me, growing grapes and making wine relate to a lifelong quest to achieve harmony with the natural world. It is a process that demands patience, flexibility and an open mind. The rewards are captured memories in a bottle and a joyful heart.” —Jeff Baker
